Today was the first day of school. We had school with the younger children. Two babies showed up, a 2 month and 6 month old. The 2 month old baby slept through the entire school morning, and the 6 month old slept for part of it. That's what happens when you have babies come to school! 😂 but it was productive because the parents were engaged and learned many signs.

After school, we went to the Wellness center for lunch, where I got my lunch everyday last year. It helped me feel sane with my daily intake of vegetables! The delicacy for the day was breadfruit curry. It was good and Chris enjoyed it. After lunch, I took Chris on a tour of the hospital and to see where the Wellness center gets their food. They have a garden growing various food items.
Game #5 of the NBA was on at 1 so Chris decided to stay home while I went on home visits. The first child was not at home so we went to one of my former early intervention students' grandma's house to say hello. She was thrilled to see me. We stayed for a bit and chatted, then went off to the second student's house. We finally had our first visit of the trip. It was a good visit.
Chris and I killed time by playing Rummy 500and guess who won???? Me!!! 😁👍🏼
It was close to dinner time and sunset time so we decided to eat dinner at the Marshall Islands Resort, where we could eat dinner and watch the sunset. It was a wonderful choice!
After dinner, we went to K&K food store to look around. Chris was surprised at what was being sold and the price of some of the things. For example, they sell a Twinkie maker.. And a 12 pack of bud light beer costs $24 dollars. We bought a bottle of laundry soap, then went to fill up our water bottles, and returned to the hotel.
Chris found a Marshallese poet somehow and is watching her various poems about global warming and the risk of living on an island. She is very good and powerful. Google up Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner. She is currently a teacher at the college here and travels giving speeches at big summits and conferences. She is also the current president of the Marshall Islands' daughter.
Agenda for tomorrow: school for the older kids, and then two home visits!
